Sold, Part 2!!

To our beloved readers: An opportunity came up to sell Fruclassity and we felt the time was right to jump on it!! Β THANK you for all of your support in the past couple of years. You’ve all been such a blessing to us!!

I feel like I should modify this post and explain a bit about why we decided to sell at this time as the sale will come as a surprise to most readers, I think.

Ruth and I have been going back and forth about selling for a few months now, largely at my request due to an increasingly busy schedule in real life.

Our four home schooled kids are getting older. Two of them will be in high school this fall, which means a tougher work load for me and for them. The other two are also older which means their workloads are also increasing.

Additionally, I am looking into a few other career options in preparation for when they all graduate and no longer need me on such a heavy basis. Homeschooling can make for a very close family, and this has been the case with us. To be honest, I’m beginning a plan to ward off empty nest syndrome as I thoroughly enjoy being with my kids and we have so much fun together.

I know the transition out of homeschooling mom will take some serious effort on my part and I want to be prepared well in advance.

As Ruth and I have talked back and forth over the last few months about whether to sell the site or not, it’s been a time for weighing tough decisions. We LOVE the work we do here and the small, tight-knit community we’ve formed.

However, our consistent time in individual prayer resulted in both of us getting the message that it was time to sell within the same 24-hour period. So, despite any reservations we may have we are following the Lord’s lead and selling.

Know that we will think of you, our loyal readers, often and hope you will still visit us at our other blog sites.

    1. Thanks, Brian!! I know the three of us will stay in touch in and out of the blogging atmosphere as usual. πŸ™‚

  1. It’s a sad thing, but the right thing to do. Life does indeed happen, and we all have to adjust. I truly love all of the values behind Fruclassity, and my hope is that many people – in particular, people struggling with debt – have found support in it. It has been an honour for me to work with Laurie, and it’s not easy to let go of this partnership. Like Laurie, I’m very grateful for the support we have had from our readers. The pf community has done so much for me – and I know for Laurie – in terms of giving direction, perspective, and encouragement as we have worked with our respective families to move towards debt-freedom. It’s wonderful to be a part of this community and to join in such a worthy effort – and to reach more people with the help we’ve found. I will not say good-bye, but I will say farewell. See you around the bloggosphere : )

    1. Ruth, it has been an honor for me too. I’ve found a kindred sister in you, and am so grateful for that. Dear readers, please visit us on our other sites – we have a heart for all of you!!

  2. Aw ladies, I’m happy for ya’s, just a little confused and sad. I will miss Fruclassity. Kind of feels like when they discontinued my favorite frozen quiche. But, onward and upward we go! Love you both, God Bless, and congratulations again (for realsies) ! πŸ™‚

  3. I already subscribe to the frugal farmer, but please advise when prudence debt fee will be available by email. I don’t social media at all. thank you.

  4. Congratulations on the sale – I didn’t know one could do that – sell something intangible?? But then, I am a senior still thinking from the last century lol …
I will miss your satisfying weekly posts, you both have been an inspiration to us all.

    1. Nancy, I hope you will visit us at our other sites. πŸ™‚ Yes, it’s funny how you can sell intangible things!! A friend of mine calls it “online real estate”. I never thought of it that way before!

  5. Thanks for your inspiring posts over the past 18 months since I found the site. I’m sure you’ve helped many people on the path to financial freedom.

    1. Thank you so much, Stephen. I hope you’ll visit us at our other sites – we appreciate you!! Best of luck as you work to reach your own financial goals!!

  6. That’s great (and bittersweet) to hear about the news. My wife sold her dance and music business when we got married so we could move for my job promotion. It’s never easy letting go of things you work so hard to build.

I can completely relate as life changes. Personal blogging is something I enjoy and I tried doing two blogs at once. The second blog fizzled out after a few month because I didn’t have the time to give it the attention it truly needed.

    1. Thank you, Josh. That must have been tough for your wife giving up her dance and music business! And you are right about the “two blogs” phenomenon. We learn our bandwidth, don’t we? Thanks for your support.

  7. I wanted to say congrats on the sale of the site and that this site was one of the few I read faithfully. You both have done wonderful work in service to the PF community and for those who are looking for direction with their finances. Wishing you both only continued success!

    1. Thank you so much, Kassandra. It’s good to hear from you. πŸ™‚ We appreciate the kind words. Hope you can find time to stop by the other sites!!

    2. Oh my gosh, I’m just seeing your comment now. It’s an incredible compliment for me to hear that you read our site on a regular basis. And your kind words are very, very encouraging. Thank you, Kassadra!
